CNY Heat to host meeting Thursday

JOHNSTOWN - The CNY Heat is set to open its doors in early 2013.

The non-profit athletic club will offer an experience for youth boys in baseball and basketball, as well as youth girls in softball and basketball.

Both boys and girls basketball will be tournament-based teams that will travel on weekends following the school season.

Girls softball also will be a tournament-based team traveling during the summer months also having weekly workouts throughout the winter months to prepare for the summer.

Baseball will have two locations of home fields to allow for less travel. These locations will be Heat West in Rome and Heat East in Johnstown.

In preparation for these seasons, there will be an extensive informational meeting for parents Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Fulton County YMCA in Johnstown.

The ages on the programs are as follows: girls basketball and softball will be 12u, 14u and 16u.

The ages for the boys basketball program are 12u, 13u, 14u and 15u.

The baseball program will feature multiple skill levels at each age of 9u, 10u, 11u, 12u, 13u, 14u and 15u, offering teams at both locations as well.
