H.S. Volleyball Roundup: Gloversville falls short against Queensbury, 3-0

GLOVERSVILLE - Jenna Bureau posted 12 kills and three digs to lead Queensbury to a 3-0 sweep over Gloversville in a Foothills Council volleyball match Wednesday.

The Spartans won by scores of 25-11, 25-11 and 25-17.

Kelly McMahon finished with 10 kills for Queensbury (11-0 overall, 11-0 Foothills), while Sarah McMahon had seven kills and two aces. Brooke Meader added 29 assists and six aces for the Spartans.

Christina Pavlovsky posted six assists for Gloversville (9-5 overall, 6-5 Foothills), while Katlyn Pierce registered three kills and three blocks.

Jenna Putnam, Ana Kroup, and Chelsey Biasini each had three kills for the Huskies.

Johnstown 3, Hudson Falls 0

JOHNSTOWN - Zara Hyde finished with eight digs, seven assists, six points and four kills to lead Johnstown to a sweep of Hudson Falls in a Foothills Council contest.

The Lady Bills won by scores of 25-8, 25-21 and 25-13.

Jerica Holland recorded seven assists and six aces for Johnstown (10-2 overall, 9-2 Foothills), while Annie Stock posted eight digs and five kills. Alyssa Nellis finished with five digs, four kills and two blocks for the Lady Bills, while Elizabeth Hayward added 10 digs.

Broadalbin-Perth 3, Glens Falls 0

BROADALBIN - Chelsea LeBlanc finished with five kills, four aces and three blocks to help Broadalbin-Perth sweep Hudson Falls in a Foothills Council match.

The Lady Patriots won by scores of 25-9, 25-13 and 25-9.

Caitlin Rasefske posted eight assists, two kills and two digs for B-P (9-4 overall, 7-4 Foothills), while Keyana Fariello registered six assists, two aces and one dig.

South Glens Falls 3, Scotia-Glenville 1

SCOTIA - Jessica Miller posted 18 digs and 16 service points to lead South Glens Falls to a Foothills Council win over Scotia-Glenville.

The Bulldogs won by scores of 25-23, 25-18, 19-25 and 25-12.

Also for South High, Shannon Higgins, Rachael Lumley and Megan Woodell each finished with 10 points for South Glens Falls (6-5 Foothills), while Cassey McDonald had nine points and 14 assists.


Mayfield 3, Duanesburg 0

DUANESBURG - Karissa Morey posted seven service points and five aces to lead Mayfield to a sweep of Duanesburg.

The Lady Panthers won by scores of 25-17, 28-26 and 25-17.

Nicole Little finished with six kills and three blocks for Mayfield (10-3 overall, 8-2 WAC), while Heather Carman posted six points, two aces and two kills. Miranda Eagan registered five assists, two kills and two blocks for the Lady Panthers, while Bre Eagan added seven points and two aces.

Rebecca Gallup finished with 10 digs, seven kills and two blocks for Duanesburg, while Katy Dunn had seven digs and seven points. Rachel Gamache posted five digs, four assists and two kills for the Eagles, while Teanna Schmaeh added six digs and two kills.

Galway 3, Canajoharie 0

CANAJOHARIE - Emily Orminski recorded 20 service points, 15 assists, five aces and four kills to power Galway to a Western Athletic Conference win over Canajoharie.

The Golden Eagles won by scores of 25-12, 25-10 and 25-14.

Chelsea Cucci records eight points, four kills and an ace for Galway, while Emily Zawisa posted seven kills, six points and two aces.

Shyanna Logan finished with four kills, four digs and two aces to lead Canajoharie (4-6 overall, 4-6 WAC), while Abbey Dearwester posted two kills and two digs. Emma Stortecky added eight assists and one ace for the Lady Cougars.

Saratoga Catholic 3, Fort Plain 0

SARATOGA SPRINGS - Meghan McDonough posted 10 assists and five service points to lead Saratoga Central Catholic to a sweep of Fort Plain.

The Lady Saints won by scores of 25-14, 25-14 and 25-19.

Natalie Pikus recorded eight kills, five points, five digs and two blocks for Saratoga Catholic (9-3 overall, 8-1 WAC), while Myah Ondreyko finished with 10 points. Elle Valentine added five points for the Lady Saints.

Cheyanne Walters posted nine service points for Fort Plain (3-9 overall, 2-9 WAC), while Shawna Cotton posted eight points.

Middleburgh 3, Mekeel Christian 1

MIDDLEBURGH - Jenna Brown finished with eight aces and seven blocks to lead Middleburgh to a win over Mekeel Christian Academy.

The Knights won by scores of 23-25, 25-6, 25-16 and 25-17.

Shania Morton posted 10 aces for Middleburgh.

Janie Frank added six service points and four kills for Mekeel Christian.

Schoharie 3, Berne-Knox-Westerlo 0

SCHOHARIE - Ali Blyth finished with 10 kills and two blocks as Schoharie posted a Western Athletic Conference win over Berne-Knox-Westerlo.

The Lady Indians won by scores of 25-16, 25-12 and 25-22.

Brianna Borst posted nine kills for Schoharie.

Danielle Hubbard finished with seven kills for Berne-Knox-Westerlo, while Gabrielle Audino had eight assists. Erin McIntyre posted 14 digs and six kills for the Lady Bulldogs.

Big 10

Amsterdam 3, Catholic Central 0

AMSTERDAM - Bayley Archinal registered 12 kills, two aces and two blocks to power Amsterdam to a sweep of Catholic Central.

The Lady Rams won by scores of 25-21, 25-17 and 25-15.

Katie Ressel posted 16 assists and two kills for Amsterdam (4-11 overall, 4-5 Big 10), while Jordann Bernardo posted five kills and one block.

Clare Herubin finished with eight digs, five aces and three kills for Catholic Central, while Jenah Schellbaecher posted four kills and three blocks.
