When I was at my most vulnerable, I received care
I am writing this letter to give praise to our local dispatch, EMS, NLH and all the unsung heroes connected to those organizations.
On Saturday, Nov. 21, I fell, the results of which set in motion a chain of events and connections that I will be forever grateful for. The call to 911 brought EMS to my home and with their competent care and compassion, I was brought to NLH. There I received the most incredible care I could have ever imagined. From ER personnel to the nurses, aides, doctors and food service, OR staff and therapists, each encounter gave me the tools and strength to see me through surgery for a fracture resulting from my fall at home.
I have always been proud of our community but sometimes negative things are all we hear and we forget to be thankful. I am so thankful for the unselfish, kind, compassionate, caring people given me during my time of need. I have a long way to go in my recovery but I am convinced that without the resources right here in our little community I would not have come this far so quickly. When I was at my most vulnerable, I was treated with the utmost kindness, competence and compassion imaginable. I don’t want to single out any one person involved in my care. In my mind they are all equally responsible for making a horrible incident an opportunity to see the good we have here.
