There should be term limits for Supreme Court judges

Throughout the Senate hearings to confirm the nomination of Judge Amy Barrett to the Supreme Court — as well as during hearings for previous nominees, we wish there were, say, 10 year limits for federal judges. At the end of those terms, they could be voted on again.

Lifetime seats frighten the parties out of power. Cultures also change and should be able to reflect their views without the baggage of anticipated beliefs.

It took decades before the Constitution could be ruled unconstitutional over slavery and women’s rights. And I think lifetime term limits for court judges resisted those changes.
