In response to a letter to the editor from March 9
I am writing in response to the letter to the editor from Bonnie Didomizio that appeared in March 9, edition of the Leader-Herald titled, “Republican goals are to eliminate needed programs.”
Just to hit on two of her points (though I can probably refute all of them).
1. Gut/eliminate food stamps. Did she read the law and does she know when it was passed (looks like Obama years)?
“Section 6(o) of the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008, as amended (the Act) generally limits the amount of time an able-bodied adult without dependents (ABAWD) can receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits to three months in a 36-month period (the time limit), unless the individual meets certain work requirements.” Work requirements are 20 hours per week and only applies to able body individuals between 18 and 49 with no dependents. If they work 20, they get the benefit.
What has been changed is limiting the states from waiving these requirements. That means “follow the law.”
2. Gut/eliminate Obamacare. Has she actually looked at the plans in New York? They are a joke. How do I know, I have to purchase this insurance because the current cobra plan I have is expiring. I would like to keep my current plan, but they are not on the exchange, therefore, I have to buy one these crap plans. Even if I purchased the best plans, none of my doctors will accept it, I will not receive the best care, and my out-of-pocket will increase 10 fold.
I could go on and on, but please stop printing lies, it is just propaganda for Tedra Cobb. Also, Bonnie Didomizio, sent the same letter to Daily Gazette (https://dailygazette.com/article/2020/03/09/letters-to-the-editor-for-monday-march-9).
I call this spam.
