Democrats in Virginia could catalyze next bloody rebellion

In Virginia, a racist governor who would violate his Hippocratic Oath by allowing late-term aborted live babies to die, and the Democrat-controlled statehouse, seek to “steer the state to the left on abortion, gun control, public benefits for illegal immigrants, LGBT issues, taxes and spending — and removing Confederate monuments from the Virginia landscape.” (See https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2020/jan/16/editorial-virginia-democrats-legislative-outreach/).

In response to the tyrannical, perverted and unconstitutional agenda of the Democrats, over 90 percent of the counties and many municipalities in Virginia have declared themselves to be Second Amendment sanctuaries. A resolution has been introduced in the West Virginia statehouse to invite these counties to join its state (see https://iotwreport.com/west-virginia-lawmakers-invite-virginia-counties-fed-up-with-gun-control-to-secede/).

The threatened actions by the Virginia statehouse eerily parallel the events leading up to the Civil War of 1861, the historic events having been: punishing taxes (Tariff Acts of 1828 and 1832, Morrill Act of 1861) that protected the manufacturing base of northern states at the expense of the agrarian southern states; and the inability of these two groups of states to peacefully reconcile the slavery situation.

As in the past, the imposition of higher taxes reduces disposable income and lowers the living standards of most wage earners. Since higher taxes make it more difficult to repay their debts many debtors become enslaved to their debts. (Incidentally, I do not support forgiveness of student loan debt. How is it fair and constitutional that I as a taxpayer be forced by the government to become enslaved to someone else’s debt? But I digress.)

If the Democrats in Virginia don’t step back, then they could catalyze the next bloody rebellion. The military and paramilitary forces at the state level are heavily armed but they are still outnumbered by armed citizens some of whom are well-armed and well-trained in asymmetric warfare. At that point it becomes a question of whether the former will put their paychecks first and side with the illegitimate state government, or obey the U.S. Constitution and side with those citizens who also do the same.

“The law perverted! And the police powers of the state perverted along with it! The law, I say, not only turned from its proper purpose but made to follow an entirely contrary purpose! The law become(s) the weapon of every kind of greed! Instead of checking crime, the law itself (is) guilty of the evils it is supposed to punish!)

The Law, Frederick Bastiat, 1850.
