‘Cadillac’ tax editorial from Dec. 21 puts out misinformation

Congratulations to the Leader — we can now list you among those putting out misinformation.

The editorial in the Dec. 21-22, edition rants about the cadillac health insurance tax. The editorial states “proceeds from the 40 percent tax were used in a futile attempt to make it appear Obamacare was a truly affordable government insurance program.”

The original bill scheduled the tax to take effect in 2018. Congress delayed the tax in 2018 and 2019 and of course canceled it this month. Thus no money was ever collected and could not have been used for anything. Obamacare was certainly an imperfect bill and needs improvement, but 20 million more Americans now have health insurance, kids can stay on their parents plan till age 26, pre-existing conditions are not a barrier to insurance, and preventive care can be obtained without cost to patient, etc.
