An open letter to columnist Leonard Pitts

By definition: A racist is a person who believes a particular race is superior to others; a bigot is a person who is strongly partial to one’s own group, religion, race, or politics, and is intolerant of those who differ; a thug is a violent person (especially a criminal); and a hypocrite is a person who puts on a false appearance of virtue or religion. One definition of hate is an extreme dislike or disgust (see https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/hate)

In another two of your diatribes (see Leader-Herald, July 24, and July 28, Op/Ed page) you accuse the GOP of being a hate group, accuse the president of being a racist and a thug, and by extension label all Trump supporters racists and members of a hate group. You justify your opinions by using the four progressive congresswomen (Tlaib, Omar, AOC, and Pressley) and the outrage over spoiled-brat Kaepernick’s contemptible taking a knee, as examples of Trump’s alleged racism.

No Mr. Pitts, I assert that most of us who support President Trump, which includes more a few Democrats, are patriots and who care deeply for America and are outraged over the anti-American, anti-Semitic, racist and bigoted statements of all of these women, in particular those made by Omar. Omar has probably committed adultery (see https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/ilhan-omar-marry-brother/ and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ilhan–Omar), obtained citizenship by lying and whose last name may not even be Omar (see https://theohiostar.com/2019/07/19/omar-silent-on-new-claims-that-she-has-a-different-real-name-and-entered-country-fraudulently/). And don’t forget that Omar recently said white men are responsible for most crimes in America, a claim which is false (see https://www.politifact.com/punditfact/statements/2015/apr/02/sally-kohn/sally-kohn-white-men-69-percent-arrested-violent/) and racist. So when Trump says “send her back,” he states something that should in fact be done if she lied on her citizenship application. So how is that racist?

Regarding the other three women, Pressley not excepted (see https://www.pacificpundit.com/2019/07/16/ayanna-pressley-of-thesquad-is-a-bigot/), all of them are racists and bigots, and that’s a fact. So you label Trump a racist for his calling out these four women who are in fact, racist and bigoted, just because they are non-white?

Finally, you call President Trump the most lawless president in history and also a cheap thug. Really? Once again you have offered an opinion with no supporting facts. Clearly, Trump does not fit the definition of a thug.
