History seems to be repeating itself

Years ago, the Isrealites were facing a drought in their land. Nothing was growing, they were starving. They applied to Egypt for asylum and were taken in, where they prospered and their population grew. A couple of hundred years later, a new pharaoh became intimidated by the ever-growing number of Isrealites, so he put them to hard labor, and killed their firstborn.

Today, the people of Guatemala are facing a drought caused by global warming, as are the Syrians. Facing starvation, both groups are leaving their countries to seek asylum elsewhere. The Guatemalans are walking north to the United States. When they get here, their children are ripped from their arms and confined in crowded cages, like animals. Several have died. Its true, history does repeat itself. We don’t think much of pharaoh for his actions, so what does this say about our current administration?

And, if you think there’s a refugee crisis now, just wait until currently inhabited sections of the earth are facing rising waters, including here in our own country, and drought is more widespread in other areas. Climate refugees will make the current “refugee crisis” look like a Sunday school picnic outing.

So please, for the sake of our planet, conserve fossil fuels, give up beef, cut way down on plastics, and in the 2020 election, vote for a candidate who is not only humane, but will work to mitigate global warming.
