Columnist wrong to call President Trump a dictator

In another one of his diatribes against President Trump, Robert Reich (“How to deal with Trump,” Leader-Herald, June 3, page 6A) calls Trump a “dictator.” A dictator is defined as “one holding complete autocratic control: a person with unlimited governmental power” (see https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/dictator). By calling Trump a dictator, Reich equates Trump with the likes of Hitler, Stalin, Mao Zedong and the Kims of North Korea, all of whom ruled with an iron fist and collectively killed tens of millions of people. Trump is clearly no dictator.

Reich is supposed to be a smart guy but when he makes so shameless a statement about Trump, how can he be taken seriously? And that goes for the rest of his Op/Ed column.

There is opinion and there is polemic; Reich’s column is nothing more than polemic and should be viewed with skepticism.

Reich would do well to read the following saying until he fully comprehends it: “Every man has a right to his own opinion, but no man has a right to be wrong in his facts.” -Edmund Burke-
