Third annual ‘Zach and Zack’ scholarship tourney a success

The third annual “Zach and Zack” (Zachary Biron/Zackery Holmes Memorial Scholarship) bowling tournament was held March 30 at Arterial Lanes in Gloversville.

Zach Biron and Zack Holmes are two of our local young men that were taken from us way too soon. This tournament was started in 2017 to keep their legacies and memories alive, and to give back to the local community in their names. These boys are forever loved and missed by their family and friends.

The tournament was originally established to benefit Johnstown High School seniors, as the boys were both from Johnstown.

This year, we raised $5,000, and once again will be donating scholarships to Johnstown and Gloversville high schools, the Johnstown Youth Bowling program and to the Little League program.

We want to thank each and every person and business that helped us this year. Your support was overwhelming. We would like to thank the bowlers — you guys and ladies were fantastic. You all made the day that much more special with the love and respect you showed for Zach and Zack.

Prize money was paid to the top three bowling teams and a wild card team. A 55-inch TV was raffled off and won by Cassandra Hazzard.

We cannot thank you all enough for everything you have done. Our families are forever grateful.

If anyone is interested in donating, helping, or supporting the event next year, please contact Ryan Ahrens at (518) 775-9740; Andrew Wilson at (518) 775-8686; or Bonnie Brown-Holmes at (912) 230-4314.

We hope to see you all again next year!

On behalf of the Holmes and Biron families
