Help K-9s have their day at local events
As K-9 handlers with the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, we’re taking this opportunity to thank all of the area residents and business owners who have supported our efforts. Tom Lorey restored our K-9 team to the office of sheriff shortly after he first took office in 1996. The team has continued to exist since that time largely because of community support. More recently, it was entirely through this type of support that we were able to better protect our canines with ballistic vests.
Later this year, there will be three major fundraising events that will be held to further help support what we do.
On Saturday, May 17, the Broadalbin American Legion Auxiliary will hold their annual K-9 walk with registration starting at 9 a.m. at the pavilion at the corner of Broad Street and Route 29.
This event has been led each year by Ruthann Coons, who has, to date, been our strongest supporter.
On Friday, June 27, Colleen Rumrill will hold the second annual K-9 Team Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Johnstown Community Center.
At noon on Saturday, June 28, our supporters with the Pine Tree Rifle Club will kick off their fifth annual K-9 Team Motorcycle Ride led by Peter Tautznik and Paul Catucci.
The public is cordially invited to join us at each of these events.
During a conversation recently, we both agreed the support that we continue to see makes us each very proud to serve our community with our K-9 partners faithfully alongside.
