Power of the Holy Spirit can indwell us

Though the analogy may be an imperfect one, when a caterpillar is metamorphosed into a butterfly, it is iconic or an image of the future resurrection of believers when their vile, sinful bodies (1 John 1:8) will be transformed into sinless, glorified bodies. This is going to be accomplished through the power of the Holy Spirit, the spirit of truth and spirit of God. The Holy Spirit comforts, counsels and convicts. To be indwelt by the Holy Spirit one must:

1.) Acknowledge he is a sinner by nature.

2.) Be convicted to turn to Christ Jesus for salvation by verbally embracing him as your very own savior and Lord (Romans 10:13).

3.) Be convicted to turn from sin and turn to God (repentance).

4.) Be convicted to implore Christ Jesus to forgive you of all your sins (1 John 1:9) – epistle of John.

5.) Be convicted Christ Jesus shed his blood for you on a cross, died, was buried and resurrected the third day. That is the gospel (1 Corinthians 15: 1-4) (Romans 10:9) .

Being indwelt by the Holy Spirit signifies you are adopted into God’s family and you belong to him (Romans 8:9). What are the characteristics of a Holy Spirit-filled Christian?

1.) He has the power of spirit-filled, Godly wisdom (1 Corinthians 2:14).

2.) He possesses all the fruit of the spirit (Galatians 5:22-23).

3.) He is obedient to Christ Jesus. We abide in love.

4.) He walks by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7).

5.) He is a self-disciplined man.

6.) He has profound perception of the scriptures (1 Corinthians 2:14).

7.) He does not readily succumb to sin, but yields himself to God (Romans 12:1-2).

8.) He worships God in spirit and truth (John 4:24).

In summation, spiritual maturity comes from being indwelt with Christ through sanctification. We are severed from the world system due to the Holy Spirit indwelling us.
