Elizabeth Ann ‘Betty’ Pemrick

Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Pemrick, age 89, of Fultonville, passed away on Monday, July 26, 2021, at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady.

Born on July 21, 1932, in Johnstown, she was the daughter of the late Alton F. and Evelyn C. (Baird) Swears.

Elizabeth was a registered nurse, serving as the director of nursing for the OR and the ER at Johnstown Hospital. After it closed, she became the director of nursing at Wells Nursing Home until her retirement. In 1977, Elizabeth was elected as coroner for Fulton County, becoming the first woman and the first registered nurse to serve in the position. She also served as an instructor in the licensed practical nursing program at what is now Hamilton-Fulton-Montgomery BOCES.

Elizabeth was a wonderful mom, a skilled artist and crafter, and a fantastic cook. She was a member of the Women of the Moose and other social organizations.

She was united in marriage to Thomas Joseph Pemrick for 51 years until his passing in 2005.

Survivors include her children, Kriste Barnette (Jim) of Arizona, T.J. Pemrick (Terry) of Kansas, and Kyle C. Pemrick (Ellen) of Charlton; brother, Stanley Swears; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In keeping with Elizabeth’s wishes, there will be no funeral services or calling hours.

Interment will be at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home, 1 N. Melcher Street, Johnstown.
