Susan F. Crowther

Susan F. Crowther, 81, formerly of Thompson Street, Broadalbina, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2021, in Wesley Chapel, FL.

She was born in Amsterdam, NY, on May 25, 1939, a daughter of Warren and Elizabeth Burtch Furbeck and was a 1956 graduate of Gloversville High School. Sue lived in Gloversville and Fonda before moving to Broadalbin in 1962. She moved to Florida in October 2018, with her daughter, Sarah.

Mrs. Crowther was employed as a bookkeeper at Gates Mills in Gloversville, for several years and also worked for other area businesses. After retiring, she was an office assistant for Dr. Edith Pryce in Gloversville.

She was a former member of the Broadalbin United Methodist Church and the Johnstown Reformed Church.

Sue was one of the charter members of the Broadalbin Volunteer Ambulance Corps and was a former member of the Business & Professional Women of Fulton County.

She loved life and was always ready for an adventure, living life on her terms, and doing things her way.

She was married to Francis W. Crowther (Crowter) on January 20, 1962. He died July 22, 1995. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two daughters, Frances and Carol.

Survivors include three children, Chip (Tammi) Crowther of Schenectady, Sarah (Ralph) Weaver of Zephyrhills, FL, and Deborah (Donald) Redmond of Broadalbin; four grandchildren, Harley, John, and Hannah Crowther, and Shea Weaver; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held in the spring at the Broadalbin-Mayfield Rural Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, Broadalbin Kennyetto Fire Company, or to Gulfside Hospice, all in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are by the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home Inc., 111 County Highway 106, Johnstown, NY 12095.

The family gratefully acknowledges the staff at Beach House Assisted Living & Memory Care in Wesley Chapel for the compassionate care of Sue, and is grateful for the support of her lifelong friend, Casey Warner.
