Elaine B. Whitford

Elaine B. Whitford, died on December 22, 2020, at The Village of Penn State where she was a resident.

She was born on January 12, 1926, in Batavia, N.Y. and was the daughter of the late Leon S. and Anna M. Baker of Batavia. She married Robert F. Whitford of Little Genesee, N.Y. September 21, 1946. He preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker throughout her 74 years of married life, raising two children, Kathie W. Raneri of Johnstown, N.Y. and Robert Ferris Whitford of State College, PA. She enjoyed opera, other forms of classical music, tennis, golf and gardening. After her husband’s retirement, the couple moved to Treasure Lake (Dubois, PA) where Elaine became a member of the Ladies of the Lake organization. She was a Christian by faith.

In addition to her husband, Elaine was preceded in death by a sister, Treva A. Schiavi of Batavia, N.Y.; and a half brother, Leon F. Baker of Elkhart, Ind. She is survived by a sister, Lynette A. Gahagan of Greenarcres, FL; her daughter and son, named above; and two grandchildren, Jennifer M. Padgett of Holly Ridge, N.C. and Lt. Cmdr. Peter J. Raneri, a member of the U.S. Coast Guard currently stationed in Baton Rouge, LA.
