Alan J. Thobaben
Alan J. Thobaben, age 73, of Johnstown, passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at Albany Medical Center.
He was born on March 2, 1947, in Buffalo, a son of the late Alfred J. Thobaben and Patricia Beaudin Thobaben.
Alan was a class of 1965 graduate of Hinsdale Central High School in Illinois. He attended Cabrillo College in Aptos, California where he received his technical electronics certification. Mr. Thobaben honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy as Yeoman First Class during the Vietnam War aboard the U.S.S. Pictor. Alan was employed for many years as a cable installer for Time Warner Cable. He was later employed at G-Tech in Albany until his retirement. Mr. Thobaben was a member of the Broadalbin American Legion Post 337 and enjoyed playing pool at the Johnstown Senior Center.
He is survived by his four children, Elizabeth Farley of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Ashley Thobaben of Gloversville, Alan Thobaben of Mayfield and Lindsey Thobaben of Palatine Bridge; one brother, David Thobaben of Johnstown; one sister, Lynn Woodford of Perth; five grandchildren, Jackie Wilkins, Skyler Thobaben, Gracelyn Simek, Tatyanna Washington and Alivia Hickok; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services for Alan will be held at the convenience of the family.
