Hector Joseph ‘Butch’ Miner

Hector Joseph “Butch” Miner, 69, of Fort Plain, passed away peacefully with his daughter and son-in-law by his side on Sunday, November 22, 2020.

He was born on September 27, 1951, in New London, Connecticut, a son of the late Hector Alford Miner and Edith Marion Robbins Miner.

Butch was a lifelong horseman and farmer. Mr. Miner was a member of Connecticut Draft Horse Association, Connecticut Draft Pony Association and the New York State Percheron Association. He was a gifted professional football athlete and played for the New York Giants and the Seattle Seahawks.

Butch is survived by his two daughters, Jennifer Austin (Daniel) of Fort Plain and Heather Moore (Heath) of Mt. Airy, North Carolina; and their son, Hawkins; two brothers, Ricky Miner of Ledyard, Connecticut and Al Miner (Lori) of Ludowici, Georgia; one sister, Dolly “Gidget” Gavin of Canterbury, Connecticut; and many nieces.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Harold “Sonny” Miner.

There will be no calling hours or funeral services. A celebration of life service for Butch will be conducted at a later date to be announced.
