Daniel F. Hannis
Daniel F. Hannis passed away with his loving family by his side on November 9, 2020, at his home in Mayfield, NY. Dan was born on November 15, 1950, to the late Floyd and Ethel Fleischman Hannis. He graduated from Johnstown High School in 1968.
Dan loved life. He collected and enjoyed cards and motorcycles; five Corvettes, antique British motorcycles and a Harley Davidson, just to name a few. This was a constant passion throughout his life. He raced flat track and expert motocross as a young man and loved to hit the open road with his riding buddies. A source of pride for Dan was his achievement of Eagle Scout, the Order of the Arrow. In his youth he spent three summers working with the Scouts at Woodworth Lake. Dan participated in Masters Swimming, enjoyed bodysurfing and loved boating on the Great Sacandaga Lake with his friends and family, especially his grandson Zaylen. He completed the Northville Lake Placid Trail twice, hiked the Adirondacks, Rockies and Alps. Music was an integral part of Dan’s life beginning with High School rock bands, progressing to Bluegrass music and singing and playing for numerous weddings. As his children started their own musical endeavors, Dan took great pride in seeing them develop and perform. Dan traveled for business and pleasure impacting lives wherever he went, from the United States, Scandinavia, East and West Europe, Africa, Asia, Middle East, Mexico and the Caribbean. In Jamaica, Dan formed a 50-year loving bond with the Nelson family and friends. Dan generously shared his interests with his children and has inspired happiness for years to come.
On June 29, 1980, Dan married the love of his life, Debi Bowler, celebrating 40 years of marriage this year. They began their life in a one room schoolhouse, where son Adam arrived in 1982. Their family and home grew with daughter Nikalah in 1984 and son Jon in 1985. In 2019, grandson Zaylen Daniel entered the world and became the newest member in the home full of life. Along with building a beautiful home and loving family, Dan established Daniel Hannis Decorating and Adjon Leather Inc; a continuing family business.
Dan is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Bowler Hannis; his three children, Adam Hannis (Monica Carey), daughter Nikalah Brown (James), son Jonathan Hannis (Abbie Warner); grandson, Zaylen Daniel Brown; two sisters, Diane Pavlowski (Michael), Dale Hegenberger (Thomas), his father-in-law, Arthur MountL and extended family.
