Lois Marie Vallieu Hill
Lois Marie Vallieu Hill, age 83, passed away the morning of September 26, 2020, after a short but hard fought illness.
Lois was born on July 3, 1937, to Elvira Ostrander Vallieu and Lester Vallieu in the town of Gloversville, New York. After graduating from Mayfield High School in 1955, she worked for the Navy Department in Washington, DC, going on to be an auxiliary police officer sergeant. She was also an employee for Coleco, H & R Block, and drove a school bus for the Northville Central School District. She worked as an NYRA usher for over 25 years at the Saratoga Racecourse.
On December 21, 1968, she married the love of her life, Larry Hill, and they had two beautiful daughters, Michele Hill-Davis and Tracey Hill. Larry would always love to tell the story of how he pursued her for a year before he wore her down and agreed to go on a date with him. They were inseparable and were married for nearly 50 years until he passed away in August of 2018. We are comforted by the fact they finally get to be together again.
Lois was predeceased by her parents; her husband; as well as her brothers, Gary, Lee, Sherrill, Carl and Roy; and two sisters, Virginia and Audrey.
She is survived by her two daughters; a brother, Leonard Vallieu of Mayfield; and her grandchildren, Jasmine, Justin and Jaina. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2020, at 1 p.m. in the Ephratah Rural Cemetery in Ephratah, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to her beloved Cranberry Creek Community Church, 112 Gilbert Road, Mayfield, NY 12117. Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Northville Funeral Home. Condolences may be made to the family online at www.northvillefuneralservice.com.
