Edwin Liewellyn Tinney
Edwin Liewellyn Tinney, 84, of Gloversville, passed away September 11, 2020, at Little Falls Hospital. Born June 9, 1936, in the town of Butler Wayne County, NY, he was the son of the late Forster Mead and Vera Lois Jones Tinney.
Edwin and his family lived in Wayne County until his teen years and then moved to the Clifton Park area. He graduated in the first graduating class of Shenendehowa High School, and later attend Brigham Young University for a few years before joining the U.S. Army serving from 1958-1968. Edwin served two tours in Viet Nam, but he remembered fondly of his service in Germany and his visits to Egypt and traveling through the Panama Canal. While in the Army, he was given training and earned awards with weapons, an interest he maintained throughout his life. After he left the Army, he returned to Brigham Young University where he continued his education earning his bachelor’s degree in accounting.
He is survived by his brothers, Gilbert (Jeanette) and Paul (Karen) Tinney; sister, Ellen (Robert) Peck; 11 nephews; four nieces; four cousins; 21 grandnieces and nephews; and nine great-grandnieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his nephew, Zedekiah M. Tinney.
Friends may call on Wednesday, September 16, 2020, from 3 to 4 p.m. at Amico Funeral Home, 150 South Main, Gloversville, where services will be held there at 4 p.m. Interment will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in Huron Evergreen Cemetery, Wolcott, NY.
