Betty Ackerknecht

Betty H. Rote Ackerknecht, 87, a longtime resident of County Highway 155, Broadalbin. passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2020, at Wilkinson RHCF.

She was born in the town of Mayfield, on February 25, 1933, a daughter of William and Mildred Murray Hutchinson and attended school in Broadalbin.

Mrs. Ackerknecht was employed in tape production at Decca Records, which later became MCA, in Gloversville for nineteen years, retiring several years ago.

She was a member of the Broadalbin United Methodist Church.

Betty enjoyed garage sales, fishing, playing bingo, and crossword puzzles. Mostly, she loved spending time with family and friends, especially her grandsons.

She was married to Charles A. Rote Sr. on March 25, 1951. He died on March 31, 1962. Betty married Ernest W. Ackerknecht on October 12, 1962. He died on June 30, 2003. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was predeceased by a daughter, Sandy Ackerknecht; and a son, Jake Ackerknecht.

Survivors include her children, Charles (Connie) Rote Jr. of Mayfield, and Tim Rote, Joann (Doug) Miller, and Michele Ackerknecht, all of Broadalbin; a sister, Roberta (Elwood) Flint of Gloversville; six grandchildren, Charlie (Erica) Rote III, Tim Rote (Bobbi), April (Daryl) Closs, Amy (John) Webber, Ashley (Wayne) Smith, and Autumn Smith; 12 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and a special niece and nephew, Kelly Sprung and John Flint.

Cremation was performed at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. A graveside service will be held Saturday, August 1, 2020, at Broadalbin-Mayfield Rural Cemetery at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Judy Humphrey-Fox, officiating. In accordance with current health guidelines, facial coverings and social distancing will be required. Memorial contributions may be made to Brennan Memorial Humane Society, in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are by the Robert M.
