Ms. Alena Winney, 41, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 3, 2020, at her home in Amsterdam.
She was born on May 31, 1978, in Gloversville, NY to Nita Prahm and Paul Winney. Alena is survived by her lifelong partner and fiance, Gregory Insogna; beloved daughter, Ella Insogna; mother Nita (Fred) Prahm; father Paul (Cheryl) Winney; sisters, Josie Prahm, and Angela (Micah) Smith; brother Adam Winney; and grandmother, Ethel Winney; as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Owen and Ruth Wood; and paternal grandfather, John “Jack” Winney.
A lifelong area resident, Alena attended local schools graduating from Gloversville High School in the class of 1996. She went on to enlist in the U.S. Marine Corps serving her nation faithfully from 2000 to 2002. Following her service, Alena went on to get her associate’s degree in accounting. In the past, Alena worked as a waitress at several restaurants, and most recently operated a cleaning business serving many clients throughout the local area.
Alena loved the summer and times spent at the lake or by the pool, she enjoyed the simple things in life and more than anything, loved her daughter Ella who was her whole world.
She will be remembered for her heart of gold.
A service of remembrance will take place on Monday, March 9, 2020, at 6 p.m. at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, NY 12010. Friends and family are invited and may call on Monday, March 9, 2020, at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Funeral Home from 4 to 6 p.m. prior to the service.
