Marlene A. Yestremski

Marlene A. Yestremski, 72, of State Highway 29A, Gloversville passed away Saturday February 1, 2020, at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Gloversville on March 20, 1947, a daughter of Richard and Helen Aesch Fonda and was a 1965 graduate of Broadalbin High School. Marlene lived in Broadalbin and Mayfield before moving to Gloversville in 1974.

She loved working with people and her employment always embodied service. Marlene worked at Fulton County Bank in Gloversville and later NBT Bank in Broadalbin. She worked at Peck’s Flowers in Gloversville and the bookstore at FMCC. In August of 1994, Marlene began a twenty-four year career with Walmart, starting in the pharmacy department at the Amsterdam store. She transferred to the Gloversville store and retired in January 2019, from the pharmacy department. As a life member of the Marine Corps League Auxiliary, her service to community extended well beyond her work life.

Marlene was a people-person. Her door was always open for visitors and she cherished time spent with family and friends, making them feel instantly at home. She also enjoyed gardening and her flowers, camping and traveling.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas R. Yestremski, whom she married on October 27, 1972; a son, Gregory Yestremski (Karen Lassell) of Plattsburgh; two grandchildren, Katelyn and Gavin Yestremski; her beloved beagle, Hunter; and several cousins.

Cremation was performed at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. Calling hours will be held on Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home Inc., 111 County Highway 106 (corner of Route 29 and Black Street), Johnstown, followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams, officiating. Final burial will be in the Broadalbin-Mayfield Rural Cemetery in the spring. Memorial contributions may be made to the Brennan Memorial Humane Society or to Mountain Valley Hospice, in care of the funeral home.
