John N. Stutzke
John N. Stutzke, 89, of Midline Road, Amsterdam, passed away Friday, January 31, 2020, at the Wilkinson RHCF.
He was born in Broadalbin on November 22, 1930, a son of Ernest and Maddie Ross Stutzke and was educated locally. John was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Stutzke built the Snowed Inn in 1973, and operated the tavern until 1982. John enjoyed driving around Broadalbin with his best friend and nephew, Brian McGuire, in search of cars, tractors and bulldozers that were for sale. If something was found, it would be refurbished by father and son to keep or resell. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Beatrice “Wink” Frye Stutzke, whom he married on January 28, 1954; a son, John (Penny) Stutzke of Broadalbin; a sister, Rose (Frank) McGuire of Broadalbin; two granddaughters, Tanya (Daryl) Jasewicz and Renae (Brian) Sitterly, all of Broadalbin; three great-grandchildren; a special nephew, Pete (Jeanne) Meher of Gloversville; and several other nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held in the spring at the Perth Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are by the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc. 111 County Highway 106, Johnstown, NY 12095.
