Freda (Deming) Vandenburg
Freda (Deming) Vandenburg, age 90, the daughter of the late Warren and Alephia Millington Deming, passed away on Friday, January 3, 2020, at the Wells House Nursing Home. She was born in Batchellerville on February 16, 1929. She was a graduate of Northville Central School, class of 1946.
Freda was a lifetime member of the Edinburg Methodist Church, past member of the Edinburg Fire Auxiliary, past member of the Sacandaga Grange and Edinburg Snowmobile Club. With her husband Robert, she was the owner and operator of Deming’s Trading Post from 1964 to 1985.
She is survived by her son, Robert “Bim” (Gail) Vandenburg of Edinburg; and daughter, Susan (Robert Sr.) Bailey of Northville; five grandchildren, Joy (Pete) Allen, Donald Edwards, Arthur Edwards, Derek (Roni) Vandenburg and Catlin (Amber) Vandenburg; nine great-grandchildren, Krista, Dylan, Ethan, Kiara, Marissa, Skyler, Tanya, Trevor and Travis; and six great-great-grandchildren, Harper, Jackson, Noah, Mia, Matthew and Konner. Several nieces and nephews also survive her.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Robert; three sisters, Ruth Simpson, Thelma Deming and Lula LaPort; and two brothers, Robert Deming and Jack Deming.
There will be no calling hours or funeral service. Burial will be held in the spring in Batchellerville Cemetery, Edinburg. Freda requested that there be no flowers and donations be made to the Cancer Society, Edinburg Fire Company, Edinburg Emergency Squad or the Northville Methodist Church.
