Rev. Charles Stanton Richtmyer II
The Rev. Charles Stanton Richtmyer II passed away at the age of 79 on Sept. 28, 2019, at Memorial Hospital in Lima, Ohio.
He was born in Gloversville, NY on Nov 16, 1939, a son of the late Charles S. Richtmyer I and Caroline Kelley Richtmyer. He grew up in Gloversville and was a 1958 graduate of GHS.
He was married to Claire Dorothy Williams in 1965, and his two children were born, Kimberly Sue and Charles Stanton III. They divorced. Then in 1990 he married Charlotte Jean Bauer.
He was a minister in the United Methodist Church, Church of God and Friends Church, serving congregations in Western Ohio. He never really retire. He was always busy; always ready to lend a hand; and always ready with a special prayer; and would help anyone in need. He was an active member in the St. Mary’s Rotary Club, and very active in the community. He will be sadly missed by all.
He is survived by Claire Richtmyer and their daughter, Kimberly Daily (Daniel) with six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, all of Lima, Ohio; Charlotte Richtmyer of St. Mary’s OH, and her daughter, Diane Gilchrist (Duane) with four grandsons, and four great-grandsons, all of Indiana; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Catherine Nyland of St. Albans, VT, Caroline Fitch of Rancho Cordova, CA, and Dorothy Nellis (Richard) of Gloversville, NY and David Nellis of Utica NY; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Charles Stanton III in 1986; and his sister, Barbra Nellis in 2016.
There will be no calling hours. A private memorial service will be held for the family. Charles has made a gift to the Cincinnati College of Medicine Department of Anatomy, wanting to stay active, and helping future generations. Interment will be at Pleasant Cemetery, Mount Sterling, Ohio, with his son. In lieu of flowers, please say a prayer for someone in need, and/or pass on a good deed.
