Margaret M. Sawyer
Margaret M. Sawyer, 86, of County Highway 110, Broadalbin, passed away Thursday morning, October 3, 2019, at the Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility, Amsterdam.
She was born in Schaghticoke on May 1, 1933, a daughter of John and Margaret Warren Lesson and was a 1951 graduate of Hoosick Falls High School. Mrs. Sawyer moved to Broadalbin in 1954.
Peg was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Broadalbin. She was a volunteer at the church thrift shop for several years.
Peg enjoyed camping, fishing, and snowmobiling with her family. She loved to cook and enjoyed caring for her family. Her grandchildren meant the world to her and she loved spending time with them.
She was married to John T. Sawyer Sr. He died December 28, 2014. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, Alfred, Harry, and Ella Lesson; and her son, William J. Sawyer.
Survivors include two sons, John T. Sawyer Jr. and Edward R. (Patti) Sawyer, all of Broadalbin; a daughter-in-law, Marlene Sawyer of Gloversville; two beloved grandchildren, Kelli (Rich) Farley and Daniel Sawyer; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home Inc., 111 County Highway 106 (corner of Route 29 and Black Street), Johnstown. A prayer service will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Jun Segura officiating. Burial will follow in Union Mills Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Church, in care of the funeral home.
