Larry F. Holmes
Larry F. Holmes, 64, of Gloversville, passed unexpectedly but peacefully on June 30, 2019, in the comfort of his home after a long illness. His sense of humor and infectious personality will be missed by both family and friends.
Born on November 18, 1954, in Gloversville, he was the youngest of three children born to Elizabeth “Betty” Holmes and Donald Holmes, both deceased. He was a 1972 graduate of Johnstown High School. He was a hard worker his whole life until health problems took a physical toll, and placed him out of work. He was a person with a “larger than life heart” and was truly loved by all who had the chance to meet him. As an example of Larry’s heart, when out of work in 2013, he “removed all the weeds” from Main Street, in Gloversville just to make the city look nicer. This landed him a wonderful acknowledgement in the local Leader-Herald newspaper.
Larry’s interests were singing, playing the guitar, watching baseball, playing softball, talking on the CB radio to everyone and anyone. His favorite activity was being with family and friends laughing.
Larry leaves behind his loving siblings, Donald George Holmes of Glens Falls, Debra “Debbie” and John Dalmata of Johnstown. He is also survived by a son, Matthew Holmes (Jessica) of Gloversville; and daughter, Davina “Dee” (Paul Maye) of Johnstown; three grandchildren, Emma Holmes, Jacob Toomer and Jordon Holmes-Keefer.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at Ehle and Barnett FFH Llc, 15 N. William Street. A calling period will be held from 11 a.m. to noon with a brief funeral service to follow at 12:15 p.m. located in the Ehle chapel at Ehle and Barnett Family Funeral Home Llc, 15 N. William St., Johnstown N.Y. 12095. Online condolences can be made at www.ehleandbarnett.com.
