Robert K. ‘Bob’ Winning

Robert K. “Bob” Winning, age 79, of Gloversville, passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at Nathan Littauer Hospital with his loving family by his side.

He was born on April 22, 1939, in Granville, a son of the late Kenneth Winning and Mildred Chadwick Winning.

Bob was a graduate of Fort Ann High School. He received his bachelor’s degree from SUNY Plattsburgh and completed his master’s degree at Union College. He began his education career at Mayfield Central School. Mr. Winning then taught mathematics in both the junior and senior high schools of the Greater Amsterdam School District for over 27 years, retiring in 1995. Bob was a member of the former First Presbyterian Church and served as the clerk of the session for the church. He enjoyed bowling in Merchants League at Arterial Lanes and was a longtime fan of the Mets, Jets and Nets.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Seeley Winning, whom he married on October 17, 1964; three daughters Lorinda Overmere (Michael), Sharee Winning and Deborah O’Flaherty (Kevin); one sister, Stella Mickel (Robert); one brother-in-law, George Seeley (Sally); five grandchildren, Kaila Troia (Anthony), Kevin Wieszchowski, Jeffrey Gritsavage, Lillian Gritsavage and Rylee Grace O’Flaherty; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Lewis “Wayne” Winning.

Memorial visitation for Bob will be on Friday, January 11, 2019, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Winning residence, 399 West State Street Extension, Gloversville.

Spring interment will be in Fern Dale Cemetery, Johnstown at a time to be announced.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc., 215 E. Main Street, Johnstown.
