Madeline Ruth Gifford, age 81, passed away December 31, 2018, at home in Payson, Arizona. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold W. Gifford; her parents, Eugene and Helen Hayes; and her brother, John Hayes.
Born and raised in Gloversville, NY, Madeline worked hard all her life in various factories around the area. An avid crocheter, she made many a hat, afghan, and doll, winning first place with a crocheted doll in the Northern Gila County Fair in September of 2015. Family poker night was a favorite event and she enjoyed making her own greeting cards. In her long life she remembered the frenzy in the streets of Gloversville when World War II was declared over, saw man land on the moon, and saw her children grow to be adults and raise their own families.
A loving mother, she is survived by her children and their extended families: Connie Cockrell of Payson AZ, Kim Enwright of Springfield, MO, Tom Gifford, Don Gifford, Steve Gifford and Vaughn Gifford, all of Northville NY.
