Blase Mattew Jurica, Jr.

Blase Mattew Jurica, Jr., age 69, of Johnstown, passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady with his loving wife Claudia by his side.

He was born on June 19, 1948 in Gloversville, a son of the late Blase M. Jurica, Sr. who passed on January 8, 2010 and Rhoda Yatto Jurica of Johnstown, who survives.

Matt was a graduate of Johnstown High School and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Marist College and his Master’s Degree from SUNY Cortland. Mr. Jurica was a self employed life insurance agent for many years until his retirement. Matt was of the Catholic faith and a communicant of Holy Trinity Church in Johnstown. He was a member of the Johnstown Eagles. Mr Jurica was an avid golfer and enjoyed an occasional Genny Light.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife Claudia Bartlett Jurica; two daughters Marybeth Jurica and Ashley Jurica; two stepsons Jeremy DeLyser and Brian DeLyser, one brother William Jurica, one sister Dorothy Laird (Robert); two nieces Jillian Jurica and Lori Albanese and two nephews Matthew Jurica and Michael Lundquist.

Memorial services will be conducted at 4 p.m. on Friday, May 18, 2018 at the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home, 1 N. Melcher St., Johnstown.

Memorial visitation for family and friends will be on Friday, May 18 prior to the memorial service from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Interment with military honors will be in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville at a later date.
