Laura M. Darrach
Mrs. Laura M. Darrach, 81, of West Main Street, Fort Plain, New York died, Friday, October 27, 2017 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Utica.
Born on March 12, 1936 in Rockwood, NY, she was the daughter of Pearl Smith and Julia Duesler Smith. She attended Johnstown schools and had been a resident of the local area since 1965.
Mrs. Darrach was a secretary for many years, working with her husband at Del’s Tractor Supply in Nelliston from 1971 until the fall of 1989.
She was a member of the Fort Plain Reformed Church, where she also served as Deacon of the Church and a Sunday School Teacher.
On March 15, 1952 in Canajoharie, NY, Laura was married to Delbert D. Darrach. Together they celebrated over 65 years of marriage.
Mrs. Darrach is survived by her husband, Delbert “Del” Darrach of Nelliston, NY; daughters, Sharon (Lynden) Failing of Fort Plain, NY, Shirley May of Nelliston, NY; sister, Doris Heroth of Johnstown, NY; 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at 10:00AM at The Chapel of Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY with Rev. Nancy Ryan officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, October 31, 2017, 9:00-10:00AM at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Fort Plain Cemetery.
