Mary Louise Calabrese

Mary Louise Calabrese, 77, of Charlotte, NC and formerly of Waterford, passed away on April 18, 2016, at Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville. She was born in Troy, NY on May 21, 1938, daughter of the late Elmer and Mildred Higgins.

Mrs. Calabrese was a 1956 graduate of Hudson Falls High School and Nathan Littauer Hospital School of Nursing. She worked for many years as a registered nurse at several hospitals around the Troy, NY area, and then Director of Nursing at Highgate Manor Nursing Home, an assisted living and acute head injury facility. Mrs. Calabrese is a member of the American Nurses Association and has been listed in the Who’s Who in American Nursing Journal.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Thomas Calabrese; and siblings, Charlotte Higgins and Earl Potter.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Alfred John Calabrese; children, Alfred James Calabrese and his wife, Cynthia of Dallas, TX, Richard John Calabrese of Charlotte, NC and Mary Elizabeth Goodwin and her husband, Bill of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Adam Miller and Caroline Rose Calabrese and Emma Louise and Harrison William Goodwin; sister, Edna Waterhouse and her husband, Bill; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Memorial Mass will be offered on Friday, May 6, 2016, at 2 p.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Waterford.

A committal service will precede the Mass on Friday at 12:30 p.m. at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
