Betty Lou DeMatties
Betty Lou (Barnes) DeMatties, 76, and formerly of Northville, NY passed away peacefully on August 21, 2015 surrounded by her loving family.
Born April 19, 1939 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Verna (Dudley) Barnes.
She graduated from Bolton Central School in 1956 and from Albany Business College in 1957.
Betty worked at Imperial Paper Company from 1957-1958.
On June 21, 1958 she married Joseph H. DeMatties in the United Methodist Church, Bolton Landing, NY.
Betty resided in Northville from 1965-2002 and was a member of the United Methodist Church, Queensbury, NY.
She enjoyed attending grandchildren’s school events, playing cards, crafting ceramics and traveling cross country.
Besides her parents, Betty was also predeceased by two brothers, Earle Dudley Barnes and Howard (Bud) Barnes.
Her greatest pride and joy came from her family. She is survived by her beloved husband Joseph H. DeMatties; children Joseph (Zayit) DeMatties, Ginny (James-deceased) Passaniti, Bud (Teresa) DeMatties, and Maria (Ray) VanEvery; her grandchildren Joseph, Mike and Anisah DeMatties, Meaghan, Marissa, Dominique and Noah DeMatties, Heather, Zachary, and Cassandra VanEvery; great-grandchildren Joseph and Alexandra DeMatties and Cooper-Ray VanEvery; sister Gertrude (John) Remington; sister-in-law Gay Barnes; and her loving family and friends.
Calling hours will take place Tuesday, August 25 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 26 at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church of Queensbury, 460 Aviation Road, Queensbury, NY with the Rev. Phil Phaneuf, pastor, officiating.
Friends are invited to join Betty’s family for a gathering at the church hall following the funeral.
Burial will take place at a future date in Brant Lake Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
