Margaret (Goebel) Sweet

Margaret (Goebel) Sweet, age 81, of Sammonsville, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2015, at her residence with her loving family by her side.

She was born on April 23, 1934, in Brooklyn, the daughter of the late Abram and Abbie Martin Goebel.

In 1941, her family moved to this area to live. In 1952, she graduated from Fonda High School. Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Roger K. Sweet, to whom she married on July 7, 1962; and also her brother, Donald Goebel in 2011. Margaret worked as a home health aide in the local glove shops and the knitting mill and for the Gloversville School District. Mrs. Sweet was last employed with Brown Transportation as an aide and then as a bus driver for several years.

Margaret belonged to the Baptist Church of Johnstown and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Fonda for three years. She loved to be at home with family and friends. She also loved to go camping, fishing, swimming, picnics and doing crafts.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen Sweet (Randy Lampman Sr.) of Johnstown; two sons, Rodney Sweet (Terry) and Dealson Sweet (Lisa), both of Gloversville; seven grandchildren, Raquel Lampman of Johnstown, Randy Lampman Jr. (Lauren Farina) of Broadalbin, Tiffany Sweet (Scott Sprague) of Johnstown, Cody Sweet (Caitlyn Hayward) of Johnstown, Emily Bush, Teeya Bristow, Loghan Bristow, all of Gloversville; three great-grandchildren, Hayden Lampman of Broadalbin, Braydon Dunkin of Gloversville and Saphire Aldi of Gloversville; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2015, at the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home, 1 N. Melcher Street, Johnstown, with the Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams officiating.

Visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday, June 17, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda.
