∫ Sacandaga Valley Arts Network Artists’ Gallery Exhibit: Fulton County Visitor Center, Routes 29 and 30, Vail Mills. Free and open to the public. Gallery is open weekends.

∫ Art exhibit: Window to the Garden, 9 Woodside Ave., Mayfield. The exhibit will feature four local artists, all original artwork for the home and garden includes pottery, jewelry, paintings and sculpture. By appointment or by chance, (518) 774-7175; www.alexandrahiggins.com. Open until November.

Saturday and Sunday

∫ The 27th Annual Hagaman Art Show will be held Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. at Pawling Hall, 86 Pawling St. in the village. Sixty area artist will be displaying their work during this event. There is no admission cost.

∫ Doc Orloff Blues Elixir: Mayfield Grill, 8 School St., Mayfield, 3 p.m.

Craft show


∫ 24th annual craft and vendor show: Mayfield Central Presbyterian Church, 22 N. Main St., Mayfield, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The show will include handmade items from local crafters along with crafters and vendors; food will be available including hamburger soup and church women will sell baked goods and handmade crafts.



∫ Free beginner lessons and dancing: Sharp Shooters Billiards and Sports Pub, 35 E. Main St., Amsterdam, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. New lessons and open dancing 7:30 to 10 p.m. $5 for those who stay or come in after 7:30 p.m. Sue Kaupelis, instructor.



∫ The second annual OktoberFest Block Party will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 6, on Bridge Street in Amsterdam on the Southside. The event will include food, games, craft vendors, German music and beer. Contests with prizes will be for the best Oktoberfest costume and stein hoisting. Live entertainment will occur all day: Signature Brass from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Biergarten and Nuthin Fancy from 2 to 5 p.m. and Lights Out from 5 to 8 p.m. on the main stage.



∫ Creative textile fibers group: Fort Plain Free Library, 19 Willett St., Fort Plain, 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Free, drop-in gathering. Participants share ideas, tips, and bring knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, embroidery, beading, felting, and other individual, fiber-based projects to work on in casual setting. Open to the public. ∫ Writers at Fort Plain: Fort Plain Free Library, 19 Willett St., Fort Plain, 3 to 5 p.m. The group is made up of writers from varied writing backgrounds, genres, interests, goals and experience levels who work on memoirs, novels, short stories, poems, and more.
