Boone faces charges that include of first-degree burglary and first-degree criminal use of a firearm, among five total felonies. Pittman faces one felony count of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and two misdemeanors.

The incident began just after 1 p.m. Tuesday when officers responded to the 900 block of Crane Street for a report of a physical fight between a man and a woman, police said.

The allegations were that a gun had been displayed — and possibly fired, a shovel was used as a weapon and a baby had been present, police said.

Officers searched for the suspects and found Pittman at about 2:31 p.m. She was detained and brought to police headquarters as the search continued for the man, police said.

Police indicated that the child had been present during the initial incident. A release did not specify the child's location as the incident went on, but police said Wednesday that the child is safe.

Officers soon learned that the man had entered a neighboring apartment through a window while fleeing, police said.

The search continued until about 9:41 p.m., when members of the department's Special Operations Squad found the man laying in an area between buildings, police said.

The man, identified as Boone, was taken into custody without further incident, police said. Police also said a loaded Ruger handgun was found during the search.
