Man facing multiple charges

JOHNSTOWN — Jeffrey J. Mitchelson, 39, of 44 E. Main St., was charged by city police at 8:15 p.m. March 18 with first-degree criminal contempt, a felony; and third-degree assault and unlawful imprisonment, both misdemeanors.

Police said he was charged for an offense at 8 p.m. March 16. Officers investigated a domestic incident and arrested Mitchelson for having violated the terms of a previously issued order of protection. Police allege he struck the protected party of that order, causing injury and refusing to allow the person to immediately leave a residence.

The suspect will appear later in City Court.

Failure to stop leads to unlicensed charge

JOHNSTOWN — Justin M. Brooker, 28, of 104 Priscilla Court, Howes Cave, was charged by city police at 8:09 p.m. March 19 with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor; and failure to stop at a stop sign, a violation.

Police said he was charged on South Melcher Street after officers stopped his vehicle for an alleged state Vehicle & Traffic Law violation. Police said Brooker was found to have a suspended driver’s license.

Brooker was issued appearance tickets for City Court.

Domestic incident leads to DWI charges

JOHNSTOWN — Stephen H. Whitbeck, 64, of 106 Glebe St., was charged by city police at 10:05 p.m. March 20 with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated, having a 0.18 percent or greater blood-alcohol content, and resisting arrest, all misdemeanors.

Police said he was charged on Hoosac Street, stemming from an offense at 9:52 p.m. March 20. Police responded to the area of Hoosac and Glebe streets to a third party report of possible family offense in progress, with a vehicle in the middle of the street.

Upon further investigation, officers determined Whitbeck was allegedly intoxicated. Police said that when officers attempted to place him under arrest, he allegedly resisted.

Whitbeck will appear later in City Court.

No inspection, unlicensed charge

JOHNSTOWN — Octavis Brooks, 23, of 60 Pine St., Binghamton, was charged by city police at 12:42 a.m. March 20 with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor; and uninspected motor vehicle, a violation.

Police said officers stopped Brooks’ vehicle on Maple Avenue, determining he had a suspended permit driver’s license.

He was released to appear later in City Court.

Driver charged with driving drunk

JOHNSTOWN — Andrew E. Horton, 22, of 838 Route 30, Northville, was charged by city police at 2:57 a.m. March 21 with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated, having a 0.18 percent or greater blood-alcohol content, and failure to keep right and consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle, both violations.

Police said Horton was arrested at 2:42 a.m. March 21 on North East Avenue. His vehicle had been stopped for a state Vehicle & Traffic Law violation. Police said he was found to be allegedly intoxicated.

Horton will appear later in City Court.
