Woman charged with EBT fraud
ST. JOHNSVILLE — Two Montgomery County residents face petit larceny charges for allegedly using Electronic Benefit Transfer cards in which they were not authorized to use.
A joint investigation between the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the Department of Social Services led to the arrest of Melissa Rodriguez, 36, of St. Johnsville, who was charged on Nov. 13 with two counts of petit larceny, a misdemeanor.
Rodriguez allegedly used an EBT card that she was not authorized to use.
Also arrested was Elizabeth Reyes, 58, of Fort Plain who was charged on Tuesday with petit larceny.
Reyes allegedly had also used an EBT card that she was not authorized to use.
Both women were processed at the Montgomery county Sheriff’s office and released on appearance tickets.
Rodriguez is set to appear in St. Johnsville Town Court at a later date.
Reyes is set to appear in Palatine Town Court at a later date.
