Man allegedly steals vehicle, bank card

AMSTERDAM — Devon Morby, 23, was charged on July 7 by Montgomery County sheriff’s deputies with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, fourth-degree grand larceny and petit larceny.

Morby was charged on two outstanding felony arrest warrants out of the town of Mohawk and town of Amsterdam for allegedly stealing a motor vehicle and bank card in March.

He was arraigned and released on his own recognizance, and scheduled to appear in Amsterdam Town Court and Mohawk Town Court at a later date. Morby was also turned over to the Gloversville Police Department on another outstanding warrant for his arrest.

Driver ticketed for suspended license

FONDA — Richard R. Opalka, 44, of 2776 State Highway 67, Johnstown was charged on July 9 by Montgomery County sheriff’s deputies with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Opalka was stopped by deputy for a vehicle violation and traffic law violation. He was found to allegedly have a suspended driver’s license for failing to pay fines. He was also found to be in possession of marijuana.

Ticket issued for suspended registration

PALATINE BRIDGE — Eric M. Moyer, 48, of 111 Tillboro Road, St. Johnsville was charged on July 5 by Montgomery County sheriff’s deputies with operating a motor vehicle while the registration suspended or revoked.

Moyer was charged following a traffic stop on Lafayette Street in the village of Palatine Bridge.

He was processed roadside and released on uniform traffic tickets returnable to Palatine Town Court on Aug. 6.
