Passenger charged with drug possession
CANAJOHARIE — Eric S. Klena, 49, of 7 Michael Circle, Johnstown was charged by Montgomery County sheriff’s deputies on Monday with two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Klena was the passenger in a vehicle in a traffic stop. He was found to be in possession of cocaine and suboxone.
He was processed and released on a uniform appearance ticket returnable to Canajoharie Village Court on Aug. 4.
Driver facing numerous charges
TRIBES HILL — A Fultonville resident is facing several charges after allegedly leading Montgomery County sheriff’s deputies on a pursuit.
John W. Smith, 40, of 537 Auriesville Road, Fultonville was charged on Monday by Montgomery County sheriff’s deputies with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, third-degree fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, reckless driving, speed over 55 mph, failure to obey a police officer and imprudent speed.
Smith had allegedly driven off after deputies attempted to stop his vehicle on Stoner Trail Road. Smith allegedly failed to comply and led deputies on a pursuit into the City of Johnstown where it ended. Deputies made contact with Smith and he turned himself in.
He was released on an appearance ticket returnable to Mohawk Town Court at a later date.
Smith was also charged by state police on Monday with third-degree fleeing an officer in motor vehicle, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation with three suspensions and reckless driving for an incident which started in Johnstown.
Driver charged with driving drunk
BROADALBIN — Leon J. Williams, 42, of Broadalbin was charged by state police Saturday with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, having a blood-alcohol content of 0.08 percent or higher and driving while intoxicated.
Driver charged with DWI for May incident
GLEN — Jeffrey D. Cochis, 41, of Oppenheim was charged by state police on Monday with driving while intoxicated and having a blood-alcohol content of 0.08 percent or higher for an incident on May 24 in Oppenheim.
3 people charged with petit larceny
MAYFIELD — Three people were charged with petit larceny by state police Tuesday for an incident which occurred in the town of Johnstown on June 25.
Donna M. Baker, 56, of Gloversville was charged at 1:45 p.m. with three counts of petit larceny.
At 6:10 p.m., Charles D. Briant, 50, of Gloversville was charged with one count of petit larceny; and at 6:57 p.m., Debra A. Briant, 51, was charged with three counts of petit larceny.
All were released on appearance tickets.
