Drunk driver hits horse trailer
EPHRATAH — On Saturday, a 58-year-old man was charged by Fulton County sheriff’s deputies following a motor vehicle accident involving a utility vehicle and a horse trailer at the intersection of County Highway 119 and Route 29.
Robert F. Depietro of 5891 Route 29, St. Johnsville, was identified as the operator of a CF Moto utility vehicle.
An investigation was conducted and deputies concluded that Depietro was traveling Southbound on County Highway 119 and failed to stop at the intersection, continuing onto Route 29 and stricking a horse trailer that was being towed by a pickup truck traveling westbound on Route 29. Deputies further determined that Depietro was operating the utility vehicle on a public highway while under the influence of alcohol with a revoked state driver’s license.
Depietro was processed at the sheriff’s office and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, a class E felony due to a prior conviction, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, also a class E felony, operating out of an interlock restriction, unregistered vehicle and failing to stop at a stop sign.
Depietro was arraigned in Town Court and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to return to court at a later date.
