Driver facing numerous charges

AMSTERDAM — Alex M. Lopez-Casiano, 36, was charged on Thursday by Montgomery County sheriff’s deputies for operating with a suspended registration, failure to produce insurance and unregistered motor vehicle.

Lopez-Casiano was driving on East Main Street in the city of Amsterdam when the vehicle alerted the mobile plate reader. A traffic stop was initiated, and it was confirmed to be suspended for a lapse of insurance.

He was issued an appearance ticket to appear in Amsterdam City Court at a later date.

Unsafe driving leads to DWI

PALATINE — Matthew Cody Folts, 24, of 719 Sharon Road, Canajoharie was charged on Aug. 1, by Montgomery County sheriff’s deputies with moving from a lane unsafely, speed not reasonable and prudent, driving with a blood-alcohol content 0.08 percent or higher and driving while intoxicated.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a one-car motor vehicle accident on Dillenbeck Road in the Town of Palatine. Folts had left the lane of travel and struck a bridge abutment followed by a telephone pole, taking down the pole. Standard field sobriety tests were administered and Folts was subsequently charged for DWI.

He was processed at the sheriff’s office and released to a sober third party. He is to appear in Palatine Town Court on Aug. 15.

Field interview leads to arrest

GLOVERSVILLE — Craig E. Rhodes, 47, of 43 S. Judson St., Apt. 2., was taken into custody on an active bench warrant by city police on Thursday at 2:04 a.m.

The bench warrant for Rhodes was issued out of City Court for failure to appear on an original charge of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Officers located Rhodes on Second Avenue during the course of a field interview.

Rhodes was transported to the station where he was processed and arraigned.

Failure to appear leads to arrest

GLOVERSVILLE — Joseph F. Pagano, 42, of 1294 County Highway 123, Mayfield, was taken into custody on two active bench warrants by city police on Thursday at 8:12 p.m.

Each of the two bench warrants for Pagano were issued out of City Court for failure to appear on previous charges. Officers located Pagano on East Fulton Street during the course of a traffic stop.

Pagano was transported to the station where he was processed and arraigned.

Man attempts to steal bicycle

GLOVERSVILLE — Christopher J. Beard, 29, of 410 N. Main St., was charged with attempted petit larceny by city police on Friday at 1:02 a.m.

Officers responded to the area of Homestead Drive for an attempted petit larceny complaint. During the course of investigation, police learned that Beard tried to take a bicycle from Homestead Drive and was stopped by residents. Beard fled the scene and was located by police at his residence.

Beard was transported to the station where he was processed and released on an appearance ticket.
