Area woman picked up on bench warrant

JOHNSTOWN — Betty D. Clifton, 23, of 102 North St., Gloversville, was arrested by city police at 9:23 a.m. Saturday on a warrant.

Police said she was arrested on a valid bench warrant out of City Court.

She will appear later in City Court.

Man charged with felony grand larceny

JOHNSTOWN — Christopher J. O’Brien, 23, of 70 W. Adler St., Port Ludlow, Wash., was charged by city police at 12:45 a.m. July 5 with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony.

Police said he was arrested at 1 E. Main St. for an offense at 10:43 p.m. July 4. Police said O’Brien asked a victim if he could make change. Police said the victim pulled out his wallet, opened it, and O’Brien allegedly took $300 in cash and ran away.

He will appear later in City Court.

Harassment charge filed against man

JOHNSTOWN — William R. Kenyon, 21, of 715 S. Market St., was charged by city police at 6:57 p.m. July 4 with second-degree harassment, a violation.

Police said he was charged on South Comrie Avenue after getting into a verbal altercation with a person. Police said he punched the victim in the face.

He will appear later in City Court.

Grand larceny, criminal mischief

FONDA–Jamie S. Lazier, 36 of Amsterdam, was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny and third-degree criminal mischief by state police on Tuesday.

Lazier was taken into custody as the result of an investigation commenced by Target Distribution Center loss prevention officers. Lazier allegedly stole a FitBit watch and several cell phones valued at nearly $3,000. He also allegedly damaged a cell phone during the theft.

Lazier was issued an appearance ticket returnable in Florida Town Court on July 26.

Man charged with promoting contraband

JOHNSTOWN — Derek L. Waldvogel, 30, of 360 County Highway 155, town of Mayfield, was charged by Fulton County sheriff’s deputies on Tuesday with second-degree promoting prison contraband, a misdemeanor.

Deputies said that on Jan. 19, while being processed into the Fulton County Jail, Waldvogel was found to be in possession of a quantity of prescription medication on his body.

Waldvogel will appear later in City Court.

Teen arrested on grand larceny charge

AMSTERDAM–A 17-year-old female from Amsterdam was taken into custody by state police at Fonda and charged with third-degree grand larceny on Tuesday.

Police declined to name the minor who worked as a cashier at the Walmart on Route 30 where she was allegedly stealing money from the register. So far police say the girl was found to have stolen nearly $4,000 during the early part of July, much of which was recovered after she voluntarily surrendered the money from her residence.

The girl was arraigned in Glen Town Court and released on her own recognizance. She was due to appear in Amsterdam Town Court on July 12.
