Man charged with felonies
AMSTERDAM – On Sunday, the New York State Police in Fonda arrested 25-year-old Michael A. Myers Jr. of Broadalbin, for fourth-degree grand larceny, a class E felony, endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class D felony, and unlawful possession of a large capacity ammo feeding device, a misdemeanor.
Troopers responded to Walmart in Amsterdam late Sunday afternoon for a domestic dispute. Myers is accused of taking the victim’s cell phone and leaving the store with it. The victim was holding a small child when Myers physically struggled with them to get the phone. Myers left the scene prior to the arrival of law enforcement.
Troopers later located Myers at his residence. He was found to possess an illegal AR-15 and 20 round magazine — both were located in his vehicle. Myers was taken into custody and transported to the state police barracks in Fonda for processing.
Myers was arraigned in Florida Town Court and released on his own recognizance. He is due in Amsterdam Town Court on Thursday for domestic related charges. He is due in Broadalbin Town Court on Monday for weapons charges.
