GLOVERSVILLE — Gloversville Police responded to reports of a shooting Feb. 13, on West Eighth Avenue. A statement released by the department said at around 6:46 p.m., the patrol division was dispatched, with members of the Detective Division later called to the scene.

The responding patrol officers discovered the scene of the shooting where they located a residence which had been struck by a bullet. Members of both the Detective Division and Patrol Division met with occupants of the residence, which had been struck by the bullet. Police describe the witnesses as uncooperative, according to a press release.

Police reviewed city surveillance cameras in the area, where a member of the Patrol Division was able to identify a vehicle alleged to have been involved in the shooting. According to the statement, police located the vehicle within three hours of the shooting. The Detective Division were able to interview the operator, which subsequently led them to locate and seize the firearm used in the shooting. The recovered firearm was a defaced .357 Magnum revolver.

The release goes on to say detectives believe that this shooting is linked to another shooting which occurred on Nov. 29 on Third Street, also in the city. Detectives are investigating whether the firearm recovered is the same firearm which was used in a November shooting. Much like the February incident, city police responded to the scene of reported shots fired. No injuries were reported in that Third Street incident.

The GPD is being assisted by the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives in this investigation.
