Amsterdam woman accused of stabbing another in chest, leg
MOHAWK — An Amsterdam woman was charged with assault and weapon charges after allegedly stabbing another woman in the chest and leg.
Angelica M. Orengo, 45, of Amsterdam was charged with second-degree assault, a felony, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor.
Orengo was charged following an altercation in which she allegedly stabbed a woman.
According to a press release, on Jan. 14, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a woman who had been reportedly stabbed on Route 30A in the town of Mohawk. The victim had been taken to Nathan Littauer Hospital with stab wounds to the left chest and leg.
During the investigation, sheriff’s deputies discovered that Orengo had gotten into an altercation with the victim at a residence on Route 30, and during the altercation she allegedly stabbed the victim twice with a knife.
Orengo was subsequently arrested on the assault and weapon charges, arraigned and released on her own recognizance.
