Man dies in Thruway crash

FLORIDA — On Friday, at approximately 2:26 p.m., state police responded to a report of a serious personal injury accident on I-90 eastbound, at mile marker 167.9.

A preliminary investigation determined that a 2007 Audi, operated by Brandon T. Zaremski, 35, of Colonie, was traveling eastbound when it struck the rear of a 2020 Hyundai, driven by Mary T. Going, 63, of Albany.

The impact caused the Hyundai to spin out, but remained on the roadway.  Going was not injured.  The Audi left the roadway, struck a culvert, and overturned causing the roof of the vehicle to strike trees on the south side of the Thruway.

Zaremski was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Montgomery County coroner and removed to Albany Medical Center.

State police were assisted on scene by the Fire Department and Thruway Traffic Safety.  The right lane and shoulder remained closed for approximately three hours, until vehicle recovery was complete.
