Construction to close Amsterdam bridge

AMSTERDAM — Those traveling in the city this week will have to avoid driving over the Route 30 Northbound Bridge over Route 67 as the bridge will be closed to traffic.

According to the state Department of Transportation, the bridge will be closed starting today due to construction work on the bridge.

The bridge is expected to reopen next week on Aug. 10 with work to be completed by the end of the month on Aug. 31.

This closure will impact all northbound traffic on Route 30 also known as Church Street, traveling toward Market Street, North Amsterdam and points north of the city.

Variable message signs have been placed notifying local motorists of the bridge closure due to construction work. There will be detour signs in place as well to be utilized to advise motorists of the bridge closure and to help direct traffic to the appropriate detour routes.

Motorists are urged to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled or speeding in a work zone, Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver’s license.

UTICA — The following is the New York State Department of Transportation Mohawk Valley roadwork submission report for the week that began today, according to a news release.

Fulton County

— Town of Broadalbin: Bridge Street over Route 29. Motorists will encounter shoulder in both directions on Route 29 with flaggers in place due to demobilization operations.

— Town of Caroga:  Route 10 between Route 29A and Route 10A. Motorists will encounter lane closures in both directions with temporary signals in place due to bridge work over the Pine Lake Outlet.

— Town of Ephratah:  Route 10 between the Montgomery County line and Route 29. Motorists will encounter lane closures in both directions with flaggers in place due to drainage, sign work and culvert work.

— Town of Stratford: Route 29A between Route 29 and Route 10. Motorists will encounter lane closures in both directions with a temporary signal due to bridge work over Burnt Valley Stream.

— Town of Bleecker:  Route 309 between Blood Road and West Bush Road. Motorists will encounter lane closures in both directions with a temporary signal due to culvert excavation.

Montgomery County

— Town of Mindenville: Route 65 bridge over the Erie Canal. Motorists will encounter lane closures in both directions with flaggers in place due to guiderail and demobilizing operations.

— City of Amsterdam: Route 30 over Cleveland Avenue traffic on Route 30 will be open to way traffic in both directions. Temporary signals remain on Erie Street for alternating traffic in both directions.

— City of Amsterdam: Route 30 over Route 67. Motorists will encounter a full ramp closure with a signed detour in place due to bridge work.

— Village of Fultonville: Route 30A between Park Street and Route 920P. Motorists will encounter lane closures in both directions with flaggers in place due to work on the bridge over the Mohawk River.

— Town of Esperance, village of Fultonville: Route 30A between the Schoharie County line and the village of Fultonville. Motorists will encounter lane closures in both directions with flaggers in place due to shoulder reconstruction work and roadside drainage work. Later in the week there will be milling operations from the Schoharie County line and Corbin Hill Road. There will be a pilot vehicle used throughout the work zone. Delays are expected.

— Town of Palatine: Route 10 between Route 5 and Route 67. Motorists will encounter lane and shoulder closures with flaggers in place due to the installation of drainage structures, pipes and & end sections.

Hamilton County

— Hamlet of Eagle Bay to hamlet of Blue Mountain Lake: Route 28 between Eagle Bay and Blue Mountain Lake. Motorists will encounter lane closures in both directions due to sign installation, paving operations, turf establishment, culvert cleaning and project punchlist work

— Pavement markings will be occurring on various routes in Oneida and Madison counties. Lane closures or shifts with flaggers will be expected. All work is weather dependent.
